Malala Arrives In Lahore to Promote Education for Girls, Attend Seminars

Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai, co-founders of Malala funds have arrived in Lahore, Pakistan on Tuesday to conduct some interactive sessions and seminars. The world’s youngest Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai will depart from the country by December 16.

Malala would also be conducting an event organized by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and will be honored for her contributions to the field of education.

“That wonderful feeling of arriving back home in Pakistan never gets old,” she tweeted after landing in Pakistan.

Malala is expected to join a delegation from Oxford Pakistan Programme along with Malala Fund. With the aim to highlight the awareness of Pakistani girls in Science education. Malala fund has been outspoken about the elevation of secondary-aged girls’ access to STEAM education. Her organisation associated with the Ministry of Federal Education to carry through STEAM education in governing 13,000 government schools in Pakistan.

Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP) aims to connect both Oxford and Pakistan academic bodies including that of fellowship with the Malala Fund, and Lady Margaret Hall (LMH). The Malala Visiting Fellowship in Education will assist teacher training courses in Pakistan to highlight the shortage of teachers mainly women.

The co-founders will be involved with students, academia, activists, and pioneers. The series will be in the form of a panel, session and conference. The father-daughter duo will also conduct meetings with the Chief Minister of Punjab with a focal point on education.

Malala’s last visit to Pakistan

Malala Yousafzai last came to Pakistan in October 2022 and paid a visit to the flood-stricken families in Sindh. She became a vocal voice for the flood victims in terms of financial aid to Pakistan. She also announced $700,000 (PKR 154 Million) in aid through Malala Fund to support the flood relief campaign.

Malala fund founded in 2013 to support young girls and let them lead with its motto: Working for a world where every girl can learn and lead. The fund is vociferous about girl’s education and policies that empower them. In 2012, the office of the Malala Fund was established in Pakistan.
