PIA Earns Revenue in Billions With Turkish Airlines Partnership

KARACHI: As per Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) the aviation company sold more than 35,000 tickets in one month for Lahore/Islamabad to Istanbul route. Upraising a total of over Rs 2 billion in a partnership with Turkish airlines. The partnership was a project under codeshare flights from Islamabad and Lahore.

The flights will be to Europe, the USA, and the UK from Istanbul. The fights will run for six weeks giving Pakistanis access to 28 cities in Europe, the USA, and the UK from Istanbul. Mainly tickets from Islamabad or Lahore/Islamabad to Istanbul. The next flight from Karachi to Istanbul will start soon.

The cooperation between the two countries via airlines began on 15th November 2022.  Within a total of 34 days, the collaboration has proved to be profitable with six flights.

PIA offering discounts on local flights

On the other hand, PIA has also started to offer concessions on flights to northern areas. The main objective was to promote tourism in the country in the winter season.

Khawaja Saad Rafique, Federal Aviation Minister decided in a meeting between the aviation ministry and members of Pakistan International airlines to boost tourism to the northern areas of Pakistan. The Minister for aviation has also directed the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Human Resource Officer, and Chief Financial Officer to initiate flight plans for Gilgit, Skardu, and Chitral.

In the meeting, domestic flight problems and flight schedule was also discussed. The aviation minister directed the PIA officials to improve the flight timetable between Karachi, Lahore, and Skardu for domestic flights.
