KARACHI: Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Information and Transport Minister said on Tuesday that Orange Bus Rapid Transit Service (BRTS) will be integrated with Green Line BRT. The integration of both the Transit bus services was to make it more financially feasible.
Ali Khursheedi, a lawmaker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) said that the Orange line project was operating on an avoided route which is why it could not attract more commuters. The remarks of integration of the transit buses were made in response to the opposition by the Provincial Minister.
Adding more, Memon said, that the cost of the project is much higher than the number of travelers using them. Which is why it can threaten the financial likability of the facility. The Orange line service is functioning in Karachi, however, it cannot be taken as the People’s Bus Service has become more popular in Karachi.
Furthermore, he said that both the bus services, Green and Orange can be integrated as the next plan. He said that the orders are sent to Sindh Infrastructure Development Company to start the process of integration.
