WASHINGTON: Amid the threatening situation created by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for the country, the Biden-led administration offered Pakistan to help deal with TTP. The US on Monday offered unconditional support to Pakistan in tackling the TTP and other terrorist groups, stating that elimination of terrorism has always been a shared objective for both states.

US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price also offered assistance to Pakistan in resolving disputes with India, stating that America seeks “valuable partnership” with both countries.

During the news briefing, Ned Price said, “We have partnered with our Pakistani friends to take on, to help them take on this challenge… We stand ready to assist, whether with this unfolding situation or more broadly.”

“As far as these disagreements are concerned… we have partnerships with both countries and that makes us not want to see wars of words between India and Pakistan. We would like to see constructive dialogue between India and Pakistan.”

“The Government of Pakistan is a partner when it comes to these shared concerns, including the challenge of terrorist groups inside Afghanistan… terrorist groups along the Afghan-Pakistan border… we stand ready to assist, whether with this unfolding situation or other situations,” he said referring to the takeover of a CTD centre in Bannu.

These remarks by Price come hours after Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari reached Washington for talks with US officials..

According to Radio Pakistan, the United States says, it plans to work with Pakistan to deal with the threat of terrorism in the region, especially from Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

These developments came after the terror attack on the counter-terrorism department in Bannu, on 18 Dec 2022. Condemning the attack, Ned Price said, “Attacker should efface the abduction and stop violent activities”.

He stressed that “Our goals are to see that terrorists shouldn’t able to use the land of Afghanistan to attack Pakistan.” “The US is determined to work with its partners including Pakistan,” he added.
