ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Thursday, “constitutionally Parvez Elahi is not Chief Minister of Punjab” after he skipped vote of confidence. “Under article 130 clause (7) he has no right to continue his office,” said Sanaullah, at a media briefing in Islamabad.

Governor has the responsibility to ask the Chief Minister if he/she wants to dissolve the assembly so take a vote of trust with members, adding “this is a requirement of constitution that if Governor has been issued the notification it should be implemented. If anyone tries to resist then the Governor has authority to write a letter to Prime Minister to change the chief minister. And the president have a duty to change chief minister over the directions of Prime Minister.”

In response to a question, Sanaullah said, “If Imran Khan wanted to dissolve Assemblies, he would not have waited for the deadline. He would have done it if he wanted to.”

“After getting failure in trust vote, Elahi has no right to order to dissolve the assembly,” said the Minister adding “PDM is on a consensus that opposition will take legal action if Parvez Elahi will not pursue the vote of confidence,” said Sanaullah.

About the denotifying the CM, Rana Sanaullah said,“ I have no authority to ask the governor about the denotifying, but it should happen today.”

According to the constitution, Chaudhary Parvez Elahi is no more the Chief Minister of Punjab, and an order will be issued soon.

Sanaullah said that the governor took time to de-notify the Chief minister because he along with the de- notification will announce the election of the new Chief Minister.

Rana Sana Ullah also singled out that PMLN will nominate Hamza Shehbaz, but the party has not consulted yet about the nominees. “Hamza is our parliamentary leader and has managed the party well. I think he’ll be our candidate,” he added.
