ISLAMABAD: As the alarming rise of leaked audio cases continue to dismantle the political scenario in Pakistan, another person involved in the audio leak of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was detained on Wednesday, in connection with the leaks. According to reports, he was a former employee of the PM House.

A committee has been constituted to probe into the audio leak issues, reported Capital TV. The audio leaks of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emerged in September and October this year.

“The person who has been detained is a staff member of Prime Minister’s house,” say sources. The former employee of the PM house involved in the leaks has been taken into custody. Sources further revealed, “the person who shared audio leaks was deployed in Bahawalpur after dislodging from the Prime Minister House.”

According to the reports, the leaked audio featured the premier’s conversation with ministers about the appointment of special assistants. In one of the earliest audio leaks, PM Shehbaz was allegedly conversing with PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, who asked her uncle for a power plant to be imported from India for her son-in-law.

In another audio leak, PTI lawmakers resignations were being discussed.

Earlier this year, various audios involving former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and specials aids surfaced online. Khan had also demanded a JIT to investigate the issue of audio bugging in the PM House.
