LAHORE: To preserve peace and to guarantee the protection of the lives of citizens on New year’s eve, the Lahore Police has developed a security strategy. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, Additional IG Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) said that the security will be strict and no one will allow for one wheeling, celebratory gunfire, and fireworks.
He added that respect for the individual comes first and elements causing a menace to the city will not be appreciated and will face serious punishments.
More than 6,000 police officers and officials, including six sub-inspectors, 35 Deputy superintendents of police, 83 Station House Officers, 400 upper subordinates, members of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Elite Force, Anti Rights Force, and lady police officers, would be deployed on roads, squares, and public places on New Year’s Eve.
Police teams including the Dolphins squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), Elite Force, and police stations, according to CCPO Lahore, would maintain continuous patrols at significant locations on New Year’s night. High alert security will also be deployed at the entrance and exit points of the city. Furthermore, any suspicious activity or person should be informed to the police, immediately.
