ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to PTI Senator, Azam Swati in a controversial tweet case. The bail was approved by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq in a case filed against him on November 2022. The bail was approved under the surety of Rs 200,000.
PTI senator was in jail since November 27 arrested for using foul language against high-ranking military officials mainly former COAS Bajwa.
In a bail plea filed by Swati in IHC on 26 November followed by another on 21 December. However, his plea was rejected by Azam Khan, the trial court judgeIn the filed application, Swati denied using any abusive language, adding more he said, the prosecution has no proof.
In the application that says, that the 75-year-old is a heart patient, and confining him without conviction would be a sentence. Swati who had remained the former Minister of Narcotics Control and Railways of Pakistan was under fumes for his controversial tweets against the military officials.
Cases against Swati
He was arrested on 13th October by Federal Investigation Agency FIA against inappropriate remarks on the former COAS Javed Qamar Bajwa, state institutions and the judiciary. However, Swati had always denied his remarks against the officials. On 27 November, the Minister was arrested again by the FIA after acquiring bail in the first case against him.
