KARACHI: Murtaza Wahab, former administrator of Karachi inaugurated Bilquis Edhi Park in Kharadar on Friday. The park is named after Bilquis Bano, a humanist and philanthropist, and nurse in Pakistan. Bilquis Edhi and her services to humanity and the people of Pakistan are foremost.
Biquis Edhi Park is a beautiful family park, says Wahab. The park will not only reduce environmental pollution, but the public will also have a healthy recreational spot too, said Wahab. Barrister Wahab had also advised people to take care of the cleanliness of the park, as this is a sign of “civilized societies”.
Bilquis Bano Edhi
Bilquis Bano Edhi was born in 1947 in Karachi, often referred to as the mother of Pakistan. She was a professional nurse who saved the lives of more than 16,000 children.
The park has been named after philanthropist, Bilquis Edhi. Edhi died last year on 15th April in Karachi. Bilquis Edhi has been awarded prestigious awards Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Lenin Peace Prize, and Ramon Magsaysay Award for her untired work for humanity.
