RIYADH: Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited the Kaaba, Majid Al-Haram while he was on his maiden foreign trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The grand mosque of Mecca had warmly welcomed the COAS as seen in pictures going viral on social media.
In another video, the COAS was seen visiting Masjid-e-Nabwi in Medina, the second holiest mosque for Muslims. Gen Munir was escorted by an ample military soldiers while entering the Mosque.
The Gen was on his first visit to Saudi Arabia to discuss various matters regarding military and security. Pakistan is currently facing a recession in the economy and a shrinking in foreign reserves. The visit included Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates from 4th to 10 January.
Pakistan is facing a current currency deficit, therefore visiting the significant neighboring countries will assist in finance. It is assessed that the visits to both countries will pave way for better economic conditions for Pakistan.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister said on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia will extend the financial plan for Pakistan.
KSA and UAE visit
Chief of Army Staff, Syed Asim Munir is on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates from 4th to 10th January. A press release by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday informed a meeting of “brotherly countries” to discuss matters related to “military cooperation and bilateral relations”.
COAS, Asim Munir, met Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Defense Minister discussed Pakistan-Saudi Military and determine to strengthened mutual relations. The Defense Minister extended his heartiest wishes to the newly COAS. Other matters including regional and international issues were also discussed. COAS will pay another visit to UAE. COAS was appointed on 29 November last year, this becomes his first official foreign visit.
