KARACHI: Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, received a working report from the Karachi police on Wednesday regarding the street crimes. The report mentioned the city’s rising street crime within 24 hours. Javed Odho, Additional Inspector General of Police, presented the report to the CM, says the spokesman.
Within the span of 24 hours, around 149 crime incidents were reported in the city. The report detailed 149 incidents, 62 of which involved mobile phone/cash theft, and 61 bikes and four cars were stolen. The crime incidents reported in districts include East (46), Central (41), Korangi (21), West (15), Malir (8), South (11), and Keamari (5).
Police Encounters
Furthermore, as per the Karachi Police, five encounters were also conducted, in which seven criminals were arrested and injured. A man named Sulaiman was killed in resistance to the snatchers while another man named Azim Nami was injured in the supermarket.
Around 13 street thugs were caught by the police, as reported. The Karachi Police conducted four search operations in the East, Korangi, West, and Keamari districts. The police arrested 123 suspects in a single day.
In addition, the report added, 30 street criminals, including 2 murderers, and 22 drug dealers were found with 20 illegal weapons, while 48 culprits were arrested for various crimes. According to the Additional IG, the police also arrested 12 car snatchers.
Conclusively, police were able to recover 18 illegal pistols, 40 kilos of hashish, and 12 stolen mobiles. That of including four cars and 26 motorcycles.
