First Electric Buses Officially Launch in Karachi from Today

KARACHI: Sharjeel Memon, Minister for Transport in Sindh has announced on Twitter the launch of the first electric bus that will inaugurate in Karachi on Friday (today).

Sindh Transport Minister said, “People of Karachi will avail Pakistan’s first electric bus service from today. The service will start from Tank chowk malir Cantt to the clock tower roundabout, sea view defense using khayaban e ittehad. Airport passengers can also avail of this bus service”.

The first electric bus service will enroute from Tank Chowk Malir Cant to Clock tower, Sea View defense. The bus service is fully equipped with solar energy, the cheapest fare, and a comfortable ride.The Bus will commence from Clifton clock to sea view with 50 Eco-friendly buses that will increase with time.  The buses will be charged with an installed solar system covering a distance of 240 kilometers on one charge.

Minister Orders Purchase of More Electric

Prior to the development of the first electric buses in the city, Memon ordered the authorities to launch the buses before its test drive. Last year in November, the Transport Minister ordered the authorities for more buses and started its test drive on 7th November 2022.
