ISLAMABAD: Pakistan to plan manufacture chip cards and SIMs to curb the growing risk of cybercrimes and to offer more opportunities while also saving foreign exchange.
A report published by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) stated, Pakistan is looking forward to planning and manufacturing SIMs and smart cards amid the rising of Cyberattacks.
Millions of SIMs are imported into Pakistan from China, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. The SIM being manufactured in Pakistan will create new economical avenues. The digital transformation in the mobile industry and the enabling ecosystem in the digital era serve a new value.
PTA welcomed the role of authorization, adoption, and compliance of SIM manufacturing in the telecom sector. The manufacturing of SIMs at a local level will enhance the economic sector by generating job opportunities, tax income, and saving forex.
