LAHORE: In the aftermath of advice from Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhary Parvez Elahi, the politics of Punjab has entered on a new path. The opposition party PMLN called the meeting to address the issues, while the legal process is favoring the Provincial government.
According to the legal process, the provincial assembly will be dissolved automatically after 24 hours of advice from the CM, which he or she sent to the governor, whether the Governor approved that advice or ignored it.
The executive committee of PLMN came together to deal with the Punjab government in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Primo of the Party, and senior president of the party, Maryam Nawaz, who will join the meeting virtually.
The CEC meeting will mull out the political situation of Punjab. After the dissolution issue and the return of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.
Legal Process of Dissolution
As chief minister, Elahi already sent advice to the Governor of Punjab regarding the dissolution of the assembly, and after that the need for a caretaker government also up the head.
After the dissolution, it is necessary to deploy a caretaker chief minister following three days after the dissolution.
The leader of the house and the leader of the opposition consensus on recommended names to fulfill the post, and in the case of consent, the matter does table before the Speaker of assembly.
A committee of 3 members of the opposition and government benches will be formed.
According to clauses; 2 to 4 of Article 224A of the Act, the leader of the house and the leader of the opposition have to agree on a single name within 3 days.
It is not written in the constitution how many names should be considered before the two leaders.
In 3 days, if there is no consensus on the name of the caretaker chief minister.
The Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition each will send 2 names to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
The speaker will form a six members committee consisting of 3 members each from the opposition and government members and will refer the four names of the caretaker chief minister to the committee.
The committee will have 3 days, if there is no consensus on the names in the committee, then these names will go to the Election Commission.
The Election Commission will make one of them caretaker chief minister within 2 days.
