KARACHI: Amid a boycott of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) by the Local Government (LG), polling is underway in Karachi and Hyderabad, and some polling stations of the district center has received vote after the long wait.
According to the reports of Capital TV, in Union council (UC) 1 of New Karachi, located in the premises of district central, no voter has cast the caste till noon.
“The long queue of voters and candidates waited long to cast the vote,” says reports.
On the other hand, polling has been put off in the UC-6 in the same district due to the death of the candidate.
Polling began at 8 am and will continue till 5 pm. Television reports showed turnout being low amid single-digit morning temperatures.
As many as 8,876 polling stations have been made for LG in Karachi, there are 4,997 and 3,879 in Hyderabad divisions that have been set up with CCTV cameras, where strict security arrangements have been made.
Security & Surveillance of Election
The Frontier constabularies, rangers, and police are paying the duties of security, the control room was also established for monitoring and surveillance.
According to the reports the District Inspector General (DIG) south, also visited the control room and briefed Director General (DG) rangers regarding surveillance.
DIG south visited the various areas of his district and reviewed security.
On the other hand, “there were tensions surfaced in UC-2, where supporters of the various parties tried to enter polling stations number 202 and 203.
Meanwhile, “the police reached the spot and dealt with the people involved to create the scenario,” says SSP Malir Irfan Bahadur.
Votes of Party Leaders
However, Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman also cast his vote and said, “I want to appreciate security forces but we want the Rapid Response Force should show movement.”
“But I want to congratulate the people of Landhi and Labour Square that they still came out to vote and gave a befitting response to these terrorists.”
Hence, Provincial Minister for labor and manpower Saeed Ghani also cast his vote in Chaneser Town UC-8.
“Elections’ result will be proved that the Karachi is the city of Bhutto,” says Ghani.
