On January 16, a lawyer named Sheikh Imran was allegedly targeted and shot dead within the jurisdiction of Civil Lines Police Station. The deceased was killed in front of his children as he was driving them to school.
The shooting:
According to the sources, the Rawalpindi District Bar attorney sustained two gunshot wounds to the head and died on the spot. After the shooting, the suspects escaped. A preliminary inquiry revealed that the murdered attorney was a member of Hassanabad’s Shaikh community.
Witnesses:
After the incident, a sizable crowd of residents gathered. The witnesses claimed that the deceased’s children, who were wearing school uniforms, were also present in the car.
The investigation:
Imran died as a result of heavy bleeding, according to the rescue personnel. The investigating officers from the Civil Lines Police Station also collected evidence from the scene, including the expended shells. They also said that a mobile forensic laboratory was sent to gather forensic evidence.
In the Rescue 1122 ambulance, and with the assistance of the police, the deceased’s body was transported to the District Headquarters Hospital for a post-mortem. The police have also begun gathering video from the CCTV cameras placed close to the incident scene.
