ECP Cancels Membership Of Ahsan Iqbal, Khalid Maqbool, Khawaja Asif, Azam Swati And Others For Not Submitting Assets Details

The membership of 271 legislators have been suspended by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for not enabling to submit a balance sheet on assets and liabilities. The 136 members are from the national assembly, 114 from the provincial, and 21 senators.

There are 12 MPAs from Balochistan who have been suspended, 48 from Sindh, 54 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, However, there was no suspended provincial member from Punjab. As the parliament has been dissolved.

The number remained higher as numerous party members from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have resigned from the national assembly. Last year, 35 MNAs and three senators were suspended. Comparatively less than from this year.

The list includes cabinet members including Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Mufti Abdul Shakoor, Sajid Turi, Noor Alam Khan, and Khalid Maqbool.

ECP had instructed to submit the members their financial details by 16th January. Moreover, other members including Shaukat Tarin, Rana Mahmood UI Hassan, Aon Abbas, Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur, Mohammad Azam Khan Swati, and Sania Nishtar also failed to submit the assets details.

The list has been forwarded to the speaker of the houses to not allow them in any parliamentary proceedings and will remain suspended unless they submit the details.

The list of the suspended senators includes: Rana Mahmood UI Hassan, Aon Abbas, Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur, Kamran Michael, Syed Waqar Mehdi, Taj Haider, Jam Mahtab Hussain Dahar, Hidayatullah Khan, Mohsin Aziz, Rukhsana Zuberi, Saifullah Abro, Mohammad Azam Khan Swati, Sania Nishtar.

Furthermore, Dost Muhammad Khan, Ahmed Khan, Anwarul Haq Kakar, Mohammad Abdul Qadir, Molana Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, Manzoor Ahmed, and Saeed Ahmed Hashmi are members of the upper house of parliament.
