Lawyer Abdul Latif Murder Case: Court Hands Over Accused to Police on Physical Remand

PESHAWAR: The first information report of the murder of slain lawyer Abdul Latif Afridi has been registered in the complaint of his student Sangeen and the court handed over the accused on remand as well.

According to the copy of the FIR received, Capital TV says, “The accused wore the dress of lawyers, and we already know him.”

“Accused entered in Bar Room and started firing,” says the complainant.

“FIR is registered under section 302 (commit the murder) of the Pakistan Panel Code (PPC).”

The police had arrested the accused on the spot and appeared him before the Peshawar High Court (PHC) today.

Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) described the incident as a lapse of security.

“Accused entered in High Court Bar along with a weapon, the incident happened with the negligence of security,” says SSP.

Furthermore, the management has suspended both guards who were deployed at the gate, according to the investigation.

The judicial magistrate has accepted the plea of the investigation officer (IO) for the physical remand of the accused.

“The accused have confessed his crime, and he has murdered Mr. Latif on personal enmity,” says IO.

The court handed over the accused to police for two days of physical remand.

Lawyers Protest

After the murder of the former president of the Supreme Court Bar, the lawyers boycotted the court and denied appearing in court, on the appeal of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar council and Peshawar High Court Bar Council.

The lawyers announced three days mourned, on the account of the assassination of Abdul Latif.

Sindh High Court (SHC) bar also announced the judicial boycott on the murder, the lawyer requested the chief justice of SHC to suspend cases on account of Latif’s Murder, and he accepted.

The CJ SHC will hear the emergency cases only, all judicial cases have been discharged for today, in SHC.
