ISLAMABAD: Speaker of National Assembly (NA) Raja Parvez Ashraf has accepted 35 resignations of lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami Muslim League (AML) were members of the NA.

The masse resignation from the members surfaced during the echo of the no-confidence motion against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The head of the house was accepted 11 resignations weeks ago but refused to approve all despite the demand of PTI.

According to the fresh development, Ashraf has been accepting 35 resignations that were pending from last year.

The source says, “The speaker already decided to accept resignation in the meeting of 29 Dec, but Ashraf kept that matter secret.”

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also de-notify all 35 members on the recommendation of Raja Ashraf.

The decision surfaced after the announcement of PTI leadership referring to their return to parliament and asked the Premier to obtain a vote of confidence.

Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had advised PTI and AML to come back to the parliament house, on the occasion of the death anniversary of his mother.

On the other hand, Maulana Fazal ur Rehman responded with the acceptance of resignations and said, the by-elections will be conducted on the aforementioned seats and PDM will not take a part in it.

“The reason for not contesting in the election will reveal soon,” says Maulana.

“Thank you for accepting our resignation, but until you accept 70 more resignations, the posts of Leader of Opposition and Parliamentary Party have come to Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Public Accounts Committee is also the right of Tehreek-e-Insaf,” says Fawad Chaudhary.”
