On January 17, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) took to their Twitter account and called out Fox Cricket for publishing “unsubstantiated personal claims” against Pakistani skipper Babar Azam.
What PCB said:
“As our media partner, you might have considered ignoring such unsubstantiated personal allegations which Babar Azam has not deemed worthy of a response,” the cricketing board stated in response. Previously Fox Cricket linked their article on Twitter, accusing Babar of “sexting a teammate’s girlfriend.”
The article:
The PCB’s response to the Fox Cricket tweet has been removed now. However, the complete article is still up on the website. The report accused Babar of allegedly “promising the woman that her boyfriend’s status in Pakistan’s XI was safe if she kept sexting him.”
What else:
According to the source, the parody account “subsequently took the allegations back and apologised to Babar.” Azam hasn’t yet offered a response to the predicament. He shared a photo of himself the next day which said, “It doesn’t take too much to be happy.”
Update:
After PCB called out Fox Cricket publicly on its Twitter account, the publication has now taken down the article.
