Molana Tariq Jamil’s Son Refutes Rumors of Concealing Rs.49 billion

On January 17, Yousaf Jamil, the son of a well-known Islamic scholar Molana Tariq Jamil, refuted rumours that the Federal Investigation Agency had frozen his father’s bank accounts. The scholar was suspected of ‘wealth concealment.

The statement came after it was alleged that the FIA froze Molana Tariq’s three bank accounts for concealing Rs. 49 billion, according to social media sources. 

What did Yousuf Jamil say?

Yousaf responded to the rumours on Twitter by denying that any sizable amount of money was present in the accounts to begin with, “Since yesterday, word of Molana Tariq Jamil’s accounts being sealed has been making the rounds on social media, and it is said that there are billions of rupees in these accounts,” he said. Yousuf claimed that these reports are completely untrue, “Spreading false news about someone is a very bad deed.”

Molana Tariq Jamil was hospitalized last month after suffering a heart attack.  A week prior, Molana Tariq travelled to Canada. On December 21 and 26, he was present at a gathering that Islamic Relief Canada had organised.
