ISLAMABAD: Shahid Aslam, the journalist allegedly accused has been granted bail in an Islamabad session court on Wednesday. Aslam was arrested by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for issuing data to another journalist regarding Gen Bajwa’s family tax details.

Moreover, the journalist was presented in presence of Special Judge Muhammad Azam Khan. The bail application was filed by Aslam’s counsel. The counsel requested the court to accept the bail plea. Conversely, Zulfiqar Naqvi FIA prosecutor stated that the journalist refused to cooperate with the FIA and declined to give mobile and laptop passwords.
Moreover, the journalist’s gadgets are sent for forensics for password recovery. The court accepted the petition and approved the bail against the Rs 50,000 surety bond.
Aslam who is a journalist at Bol News has also worked with other news outlet including BBC Urdu, Dunya News, and The News.
Fact Focus is a digital news organization that focuses on investigative journalism that had a story on General (R) Bajwa and his family’s assets worth Rs12.7 billion. Aslam was allegedly accused of providing tax details to another journalist, Ahmad Noorani, unverified.
