The 27-hour online auction of items from Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, including furniture, decorations, kitchenware, and other items, has been launched by Elon Musk, the company’s new CEO.
A statue of the Twitter bird reportedly sold for $100,000 on Wednesday, per the news agency.
An online auction of the Twitter items that lasted slightly more than 24 hours included a 10-foot neon light in the shape of Twitter’s bird logo, which drew the highest bid of $40,000, as per the international news agency.
Musk is being sued because he is trying to severely cut costs at the business and hasn’t paid the rent at another San Francisco site. According to the news agency, other locations have also been impacted, including its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore, where staff members have been asked to vacate and work from home.
He plans to excessively lower the costs while increasing revenue and the new $8 subscription service called Twitter Blue would aid in this endeavor.
