ISLAMABAD: The federal government has requested that the bail application of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader, Shahbaz Gill to be be withdrawn. On Wednesday, in the presence of Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Umar Ata Bandial, the Supreme Court accepted Gill’s withdrawal of his bail application.

The Rizwan Abbasi ,counsel appeared in court, representing the federal government. The advocate added that the PTI leader had reaffirmed his misconduct in the appeal, and moreover, a new case had also been filed against him.

In the plea, it was claimed that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) incorrectly evaluated the evidence that Gill was charged with treason against the state because he allegedly attempted to incite military unrest through his words. The court was urged in the petition to overturn the IHC’s judgement approving Gill’s bail.

Furthermore, Gill’s lawyer added that the plea for the cancellation will be made in appropriate forums. The application for the cancellation of the bail was registered with the Islamabad city magistrate.
