LAHORE: Who will take the charge of caretaker Chief Minister (CM) in Punjab? The question didn’t get an answer so far – the Speaker of the assembly constituted a committee to solve the matter.
Punjab Assembly secretariat has issued a notification to the constitution of the committee. The parliamentary committee will consist of three members from each side, government, and opposition.
Raja Basharat, Mian Aslam Iqbal, and Hashim Jawan are members of the Parliamentary committee from PTI and PML-Q.
Meanwhile, Malik Ahmed Khan, Malik Nadeem Kamran, and Syed Hasan Naqvi will be representatives of the opposition.
According to the constitution, if the parliamentary committee doesn’t express consensus and fails to select the name of the caretaker, the matter will be pushed to the table of election commission.
However, the meeting of the parliamentary committee will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM, and the speaker Punjab Assembly will chair the meeting.
CM Punjab had sent a summary on 12 January, and Governor Punjab had denied signing it. After 48 hours of CM’s summary the assemblies dissolved automatically.
Nominees of Opposition
PML-N nominated two names for the caretaker chief minister of Punjab are; Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Ahad Raza Cheema.
According to the reports, Mohsin Raza is a journalist who got his higher education in the USA and is associated with the American channel.
Mohsin founded local media City News Network in 2009, and there are six news channels and Newspapers working on his name.
However, Ahad Cheema is a former bureaucrat who was known as the best administrator in the tenure of Shehbaz Sharif as CM.
Cheema was a Pakistan Administrator Service (PAS) grade 20 officer and served as chief executive officer of QATPC, owned by the government of Punjab.
