NA Speaker Accepts 35 More Resignations of PTI Members

ISLAMABAD: The government tightened the belt to forestall the return of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to the assembly. The Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Parvez Ashraf, has accepted further resignations.

In a fresh development, the speaker accepted an additional 35 resignations submitted by members of PTI and AML who resigned during the motion of no-confidence to oust the sitting Prime Minister Imran Khan.

As, the PTI chief expressed his will and advised President about asking the Prime Minister to take the vote of confidence. 

Earlier, on January 18th, Raja Parvez Ashraf had accepted 35 resignations of lawmakers from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami Muslim League (AML) who were members of the National Assembly. The Speaker accepted 11 resignations weeks ago but refused to approve all despite demands from PTI.

The decision came after the announcement by PTI leadership of their return to parliament and their request for the Premier to obtain a vote of confidence.

However, the Speaker approved the resignations of Dr. Saleem Hyder Ali Khan, Saleem Rehman, Sahibzada Sabghat Ullah, Mehboob Shah. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Junaid Akbar, Sher Akbar Khan, Ali Khan Jadoon, Usman Shaikh Turkai, Mujahid Ali, Arbad Amir Ayub, and Sher Ali Arbab are also part of the list.

Shahid Ahmed, Gul Dad Khan, Sajid Khan, Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Andleeb Abbas, Asma Qadir, Malika Ali Bukhari, and Manawa Bibi Baloch’s resignations have been accepted by the Speaker.
