Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas had a daughter through the use of a surrogate in January 2022. The baby, named Malti, faced a difficult start to life as she was born prematurely, three months before her due date.

Priyanka Chopra shared,

“I was in the operating room when she came out. She was so small, smaller than my hand … I saw what the intensive-care nurses do. They do God’s work.

“Nick and I were both standing there as they intubated her. I don’t know how they even found what they needed [in her tiny body] to intubate her.”

For three months during the COVID-19 pandemic, Priyanka and Nick spent every day in a neonatal intensive care unit with their daughter Malti, whose life was at risk.
