WASHINGTON: The United States said on Monday that it supports regional stability in South Asia and emphasized that negotiations between Pakistan and India are their matter.
In a weekly press briefing, the spokesperson of the State Department, Ned Price, said that the United States has long emphasized stability in South Asia and that discussions between Pakistan and India are a matter for the two countries to handle.
This development came after a statement by the Premier, in which he called for the Indian counterpart to engage in sincere and serious talks regarding the issue of Kashmir.
In the aforementioned statement, Sharif also called for the involvement of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to help facilitate negotiations.
“Extreme violation happening in India-occupied Kashmir, it should be stopped, and the message should go to the world that India is ready to negotiate the matter,” says Prime Minister.
“It would ultimately be a question of the type of policy that any future government of Pakistan might pursue,” he told journalists.
