Fawad Chaudhary Arrest Case: LHC Summons IGs to Appear before Court by 6:00 PM

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) ordered the Inspector General (IG) Punjab police, and IG Islamabad police to appear in court by 6:00 PM.

The LHC heard a petition from the counsel of Fawad Chaudhary at 2:00 PM.

During the proceedings, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh summoned both IGs to appear before the court.

The advocate responded that the IG is traveling from Rahim Yar Khan to Lahore.

The court ordered both officers to appear before it and adjourned the hearing until 6:00 PM.

Earlier, the LHC fixed the hearing of the case at 1:30 PM, but the police failed to produce Fawad Chaudhary in court.

The counsel of the arrested leader of Pakistan-e-Tehreek (PTI), Fawad Chaudhary, filed the petition against the confinement of Fawad Chaudhary in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

The petition stated, “Elite force has detained Fawad Chaudhary from his residence and shifted him to an undisclosed area.”

“The reasons for detention were not disclosed, let the court order bail and for Fawad to appear in court,” pleaded the lawyer.

LHC accepted the petition of Fawad’s counsel and ordered the police to produce him in LHC by 1:30 pm.

Initially, the police appeared Fawad Chaudhary in the Cantt Kachery, Lahore, and demanded a transit remand to take him to Islamabad.

Fawad’s counsel— in a hearing, said that Islamabad is located only a distance of 4 hours away.

The court ordered Fawad to undergo a medical examination and also approved the police’s request for transit remand.

To Produce Before IHC

The Judicial magistrate approved the transit remand of Fawad Chaudhary to be produced before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The vans which will drop Fawad Chaudhary off in Islamabad are about to reach Lahore.

Heavy security has been deployed at the district court of Lahore, with DSP Malik Bashir heading the police contingents.

Medical Examine

On the order of the judicial magistrate, Fawad Chaudhary was medically examined.

According to the report of Capital TV, sources stated that Fawad Chaudhary is medically fit. “There is no sign of torture on the body of Fawad Chaudhary, he is normal,” said medical sources.

“Chaudhary is suffering from depression and taking medicine for mental stress,” they added. According to the medical team, his sugar level is 183 and his blood pressure is 160, which are considered normal

‘Alleging me about rebelling’

“I am feeling proud of being nominated in this case, the same case was registered against Nelson Mandela,” says Fawad.

“They are alleging me of rebelling but it’s not true,” he added. “I am a former Minister and a lawyer of the Supreme Court, so please treat me respectfully.”

He claimed that the entire of Pakistan holds the same stance about the ECP as he does.

‘Fawad Chaudhary is Brave Man,’ says Hammad Azhar

Hammad Azhar, a companion of Fawad Chaudhary, said that unknown persons arrested Fawad Chaudhary. When Farrukh Habib followed them, they also started chasing him.

“Fawad Chaudhary is a brave man, he has spent his life adhering to the law and constitution. They are trying to silence the voice of Fawad Chaudhary, as they have done with Azam Swati,” he said.

The Case Against Fawad Chaudhary

The First Information Report (FIR) against Fawad Chaudhary, has been registered by the Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for making derogatory remarks against the ECP.

In a media talk, Chaudhary stated that the chief election commissioner is a “Clark” and that he signs papers on the orders of the PDM government.

He made these comments when he was talking about the appointment of the chief minister of Punjab, Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

The FIR Registered invokes sections 153-A (promotion of enmity between groups), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief), and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station.

Islamabad Police said, “A case was registered against PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry on the request of the constitutional body.”
