De-Notified Members of NA Appear as Active Members on Official Website

ISLAMABAD: The de-notified members of the National Assembly (NA) are still appearing as members of the parliament on the NA’s website.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Pervez Ashraf, has accepted the resignations of lawmakers belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has de-notified them as well.

However, despite the ECP’s notification, the website still shows their status as Members of Parliament.

Recently, the ECP de-notified 43 members of parliament after the Speaker accepted their resignations.

Members of the NA belonging to PTI and allied parties submitted their resignations in April 2022, during a no-confidence vote against then Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Meanwhile, the member denied to return to NA first, and then they decided to join parliament again, however, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan has also invited members of PTI back into the Parliament.

Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf accepted all 124 resignations this month after members of PTI decided to return to the parliament.

The vote of confidence for Shehbaz Sharif may have been another factor in the acceptance of their resignation.
