ISLAMABAD: The cost of performing Hajj under the government scheme is projected to exceed Rs 1 million this year, according to APP. Moreover, it was also stated that it is unlikely for Hajj to be affordable due to the current global economic climate, high inflation, and the weakening of the rupee against other currencies.
Additionally, the sources mentioned that there is no likelihood of receiving any financial assistance from the government, commonly known as “Hajj subsidy” this year. It was also informed that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony is planning to unveil the 2023 Hajj Policy by the end of February and also, and they are working on a plan to make agreements with scheduled banks for receiving Hajj applications as early as possible.
In addition to the Hajj application, all applicants must submit a passport, three photographs, a certificate of having received a COVID-19 vaccination, and the national identity card of the pilgrim and their heirs. It was also stated that having a bank account is a requirement for all Hajj applicants.

They also said that Saudi Arabia has lifted the age restriction on Hajj pilgrims who are 65 years and above, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony is working closely
