IANS reports that up to 30 Hindu protesters were arrested in Karnataka for engaging in violence and making attempts to obstruct the Pathan’s screening in theatres.

Shah Rukh Khan’s eagerly anticipated comeback movie, Pathaan, was released in India on Jan 25 (today). Millions of tickets for the film by Siddharth Anand film, also starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, were sold in advance.

After various Indian officials said that security would be deployed to guard the theatres, moviegoers, the cast, the producers were revealed that the film’s release won’t face any hiatus.

What’s more:

The publication claims that protesters broke into Swaroopa and Narthaki theatres. Despite the demand for a boycott, the rioters criticised the film’s release and tore down banners. Security has been reinforced in the surrounding areas of the screening.

Abhay Patil, a BJP state legislator for Belagavi South, criticised the film’s distribution and advocated against further screenings.

The MLA had stated, “They should appreciate the people’s concerns and stop the film’s showing. The release of such films will damage society’s atmosphere. Today is the start of the protest. Women are protesting the film’s distribution, therefore the distributor needs to halt screenings.
