KARACHI: A man named Rashid Imam Din was shot dead in a targeted attack, as described by police on Wednesday. Imam Din, 30, was a former Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi worker who later joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
In a statement, police said that Din was the third member of his family to become a victim of targeted killing for political reasons. Din’s two elder brothers were also targeted a few years ago. Both brothers were associated with MQM-London and MQM-H.
Syed Farasat Husain, SHO of Awami Colony, said that the attackers entered Din’s house and shot him. The body was taken to the hospital for medical formalities.
Furthermore, the SHO added that Din had been a part of MQM-Haqiqi, a faction of MQM-P led by Afaq Ahmed, and had joined the PPP a few years ago. The deceased was also active in land issues in Ilyas Goth of Korangi. However, the investigation is ongoing to discover the accurate motive behind the murder.
