‘Frequency Fluctuation Identified as Cause of National Power Outage,’ Initial Reports

ISLAMABAD: The initial report of the power breakdown has been prepared, which described fluctuation as the reason for country-wide power outage.

The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), prepared the report on country-wide power breakdown.

“Due to the fluctuation in frequency, the 500Voltage transmission lines had become trip, which affected the NDC and Karachi-Electric’s (KE) system,” stated the report.

The fault wasted 11,356 Megawatts (MW) of electricity before the breakdown. The frequency stood at 50MW per ton, which had increased by 50.75 MW/ton.

The report said, “the suddenly raised in frequency affected the system and imbalanced the load and voltage.”

NTDC said the main fault was seen in the Guddu transmission lines, which tripped Tarbela, Mangla, and Warsak several times.

On January 23rd, Pakistan faced a great power breakdown, which took more than 23 hours to recover.

The government formed a committee to probe the issue and expressed the fear of foreign intervention behind the issue.
