LAHORE: Imran Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has withdrawn his nomination for the NA-193 by-election in Rajanpur on Thursday. He had previously planned to run in the by-election.

Sardar Mohsin Leghari will be the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Rajanpur by-election. PTI leaders had encouraged the former Prime Minister to contest the election for the open seat, which became available after the death of PTI member Sardar Jaffar Khan Leghari. In 2018, Leghari left the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and joined the PTI.

The PTI selected their leader to run in the by-elections for 33 vacant National Assembly seats. This came after the Speaker of the National Assembly, Raja Parvez Ashraf, accepted resignations from PTI members. The Election Commission of Pakistan then declared elections for these seats. However, following a day of consultations within the party, the PTI decided to retract their leader’s candidacy.
