LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended the appointments of 97 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) lawmakers and prohibited them from performing their duties. The court also nullified the notification regarding their appointment.
Justice Shahid Kareem heard a petition and summoned the lawmakers to appear before the court, but they did not comply. He then ordered all the suspended lawmakers to appear before the court.
The court expressed its anger at the absence of the lawmakers and suspended the notification of all of them.
The challenge to the removal of 97 law officers, including the Advocate General of Punjab, from the Advocate General Office was brought before the Lahore High Court.
The petitioner argued that there is no precedent in history for the caretaker government dismissing the Advocate General of Punjab.
The petitioner requested that the court nullify the removal of the law officers, including the Advocate General of Punjab.
