LAHORE: On Thursday, Maryam Nawaz, Senior Vice-President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), stated that she would meet Shahid Khaqan Abbasi once he resigns from his party position after Maryam’s promotion to a higher rank within the party, which is a topic of much discussion.

On January 3rd, the former Prime Minister resigned from his party position and believes that it is not appropriate to hold the same party rank as Maryam. During a press conference in Bahawalpur after leading a party meeting, Maryam stated that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is a respected senior within the party, who has been a long-time ally of Nawaz Sharif and is considered her elder brother. She emphasized that she will continue to move forward under the guidance of senior party members.

As the head of the party’s organizational team, Maryam announced that she plans to visit Abbasi and engage in discussions about party affairs. She took a playful dig at her opponents who she believes are “happy” about the situation, but noted that their joy will be short-lived as Abbasi is a steadfast and committed individual.
