KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah received a day-long working report from the Karachi police. The report included data related to street crime in the city over a 24-hour period.
The Additional IG of Karachi, Javed Odho, presented the report to the Sindh Chief Minister, according to a spokesman. The report stated that 140 street crime incidents were reported in the city during the last 24 hours, including 36 cases of mobile phone or cash theft. Two cars and eight motorcycles were seized as part of these incidents.
Incidents of theft involving 85 motorcycles and 9 cars were reported by the police, according to the report. Six encounters between police and criminals took place, resulting in the arrest of 10 criminals who were injured and another 6 who were caught red-handed.
Over the last 24 hours, 129 suspects were arrested. This included 24 street criminals/robbers, 21 car thieves, 3 murderers, 15 individuals for possessing illegal weapons, 23 drug dealers, and 155 people involved in other crimes.
Moreover, over the course of 24 hours, 25 illegal weapons, 7 kilograms of hashish, 13 seized mobile phones, and 25 stolen vehicles (including two cars and 23 motorcycles) were recovered.
