LAHORE: Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), asked his workers and supporters on Saturday to be ready for a “Jail Bharo” campaign throughout the nation in response to recent arrests and cases brought against the party’s leadership.
Khan’s remarks follow the filing of sedition charges against his party’s Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry and former National Assembly member Shandana Gulzar, as well as the earlier arrests of Senator Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill for speaking out against the military.
The ousted prime minister stated during his broadcast speech that his party had the option of calling a statewide strike but decided against it due to concerns that the nation’s economy may continue to deteriorate.
