ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Rashid, an ally of Imran Khan and the chief of the Awami Muslim League, has reportedly fallen ill while in Adyala Jail.
According to sources, Sheikh Rashid, who is being held in Adyala Jail, has been suffering from a fever and a recent medical examination has revealed that his health is not well.
Sources have reported that Sheikh Rashid’s body temperature reached 101°F during the night and that the jail doctor treated him.
However, a local court in Islamabad sentenced Sheikh Rashid to a 14-day judicial remand and ordered him to be imprisoned.
Judicial Magistrate Omar Shabbir rejected the request for a physical remand of Sheikh Rashid.
Case Against Sheikh Rashid
Meanwhile, Sheikh Rashid was booked in an FIR regarding the statement he made against Asif Ali Zardari, in which he alleged the latter’s involvement in plotting the assassination of Imran Khan.
According to the FIR, “Sheikh Rashid is deemed a danger to Asif Ali Zardari and his family.
He claimed on a TV channel that Zardari has hired the services of terrorists.”
The statement is believed to be part of a pre-planned conspiracy.
“The First Information Report (FIR) against Rashid includes sections 120B (Punishment for Criminal Conspiracy), 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups), and 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).”
