ISLAMABAD: The administration on Sunday issued strict instructions for those visiting Margalla Hills and causing damage to the Hill range of Islamabad.
The District Magistrate’s Office in Islamabad has issued a notification available at Capital TV, prohibiting BBQs, smoking, bonfires, and littering of garbage and plastic.
Moreover, it also added that carrying flammable items such as matchsticks, lighters, or petrol/kerosene bottles will result in strict consequences. Tree cutting and water pollution will also result in legal action.
Any violation will be charged under Section 144 of the Islamabad Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation, and Management) Ordinance 1979. The instructions will be in effect for two months from today.
There have been multiple fire incidents at Margalla Hills and the forest is at risk of being destroyed if preventive measures are not taken.
