Aaron Finch, the captain of the Australian T20 team, announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday, marking the end of a successful career that included two World Cup victories and over 8,000 runs in all formats of the game.

In 2021, Finch led Australia to their first triumph in the T20 World Cup, and the following year he once again served as captain during their unsuccessful attempt to defend the title on their home ground.
Finch, who is 36 years old, has also been part of Australia’s success in the 50-over World Cup, winning the tournament on home soil in 2015. He has had a 12-year international career and has played five Test matches as a top-order batter.
