KOHISTAN: On Feb 7, bus driver travelling on the Karakoram Highway crashed into an abandoned car. The accident killed at least 25 passengers. The bus was enroute from Gilgit to Rawalpindi.
Following the collision, locals and emergency personnel transported the dead and injured from the bus to the hospital. It was reported that several injured passengers were in critical condition. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was over speeding which caused the driver to lose control.

President Dr. Arif Alvi have expressed their sorrow over the fatalities in the bus tragedy and have sent their condolences to the bereaved families.
Khalid Khurshid, the chief minister of Gilgit Baltistan, also expressed his sadness over the bus tragedy.
A separate control room is being built as per instructions from the chief minister for enhanced emergency response coordination and supervision. Additionally, the chief minister has ordered that a Gilgitian medical team will be sent if necessary.
