LAHORE: Former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz expressed deep concerns about the violent events that unfolded after the arrest of Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). During a media interaction at Yaadgar-e-Shuhada in Manawan, Lahore, Shehbaz paid tribute to the fallen heroes.

Moreover, Hamza Shahbaz urged the public to reject Khan’s anarchic politics. In a statement, the prominent member of PML-N emphasized the immeasurable sacrifices that led to the formation of Pakistan.

He stressed that the bloodshed endured by those who gave their lives for the nation’s security should never be forgotten. Drawing from personal experiences, Hamza Shahbaz shared how his visits to the Martyrs Memorial during his school days served as a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made by these heroes.

Regarding the May 9 attacks, Hamza Shahbaz denounced the actions of a few individuals who sought personal gain by burning Jinnah House and attacking military installations across the country. He accused Imran Khan of disrespecting the sentiments of the martyrs’ families and declared that May 9 would be remembered as a Black Day in history.

Hamza Shahbaz pledged to bring the vandals responsible for the mayhem to justice, emphasizing that it is now their responsibility to put an end to Imran Khan’s disruptive politics.

‘Black Chapter’ – 9 May

Following the attacks on military installations amid the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) has stated that May 9 will be remembered as a dark chapter. The protests that occurred after his arrest specifically targeted army property and installations.

In a statement, the military media wing reaffirmed that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands. It emphasized that Imran Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court was carried out in accordance with the NAB statement and the law.

The ISPR further reported that immediately after Imran Khan’s arrest, attacks were launched on army properties and installations, accompanied by anti-army slogans.
